Organizational Effectiveness Evaluation

Coca Cola has become a household name over the years. Their mission statement says it all, “To refresh the world, to inspire moments of optimism and happiness and to create value and make a difference” (Mission, Vision and Values, 2017). With over 500 different drink options available worldwide they are doing just that. The company strives to provide consumers with the same passion that started the brand in 1886.

Coca Cola’s primary product

Coca Cola’s primary product is the original coke. The red can has a popular reputation and is known worldwide. The original coke contains, “Carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup, caramel color, phosphoric acid, natural flavors and caffeine” (Coca Cola, 2017). Coca Cola’s original coke is the most popular soft drink in history.

Company Goals

The goal of Coca Cola is to be known as a business that acts “responsibility and ethically and to accelerate sustainable growth to operate in tomorrow’s world” (Objectives and Statements, 2017). The overarching goal revolves around attracted new customers, creating new products and providing sustainability by recycling bottling materials.

Evaluating and Measuring Goal Effectiveness

Organizational effectiveness is the extent to which the organization provides sustainable value through the purposeful transformation of inputs and exchange of outputs, while minimizing

harm from its actions (Martz, 2014). Organizations must measure and evaluate its’ effectiveness to ensure the organization is going on the right direction, operating efficiently, and without wasting the available resources. Coca-Cola can use the Organization Effectiveness Checklist (EOC) tool to evaluate and measure its effectiveness. The tool evaluates the entire organizational performance and it can be adjusted according to the organization interest. OEC is interactive, it contains six common evaluations steps, and 29 weakly sequential checkpoints. The six steps include, (1) establish the boundaries of the evaluation, (2) conduct a performance needs assessment, (3) define the criteria of performance, (4) plan and implement the evaluations, (5) synthesize performance data with values, and (6) communicate and report the evaluation findings (Martz, 2014). The checkpoints are internal to the steps and they get more in depth with subjects such as standards and benchmarks. Finally, it’s important to communicate the evaluation findings to the organization’s key personnel for them to decide the proper activities.
